Nirupa recently joined the Micronesia Centre for Sustainable Sea Transport (MCST) in April 2021. She spent the past 10 years at the Pacific Centre for Environment and Sustainable Development in an administrative capacity to support a variety of research and academic functions and projects at an executive level. She is a USP graduate and an Australian National University alumni, having studied in Canberra on an Asian Development Bank scholarship in 2005. She has experience working for the Fijian Government and the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environmental agency in Apia, Samoa. She has served USP the longest with a stint as a supporting lab technician at the USP Institute of Applied Sciences in 1997. She has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Science from USP and a Master in Environment Management and Development from the former ANU Asia-Pacific School of Economics and Governance.
