Campus Commemorates Fiji Day

 

The post-Fiji Day celebration was held on October 16, 2024 at the main campus. The event was attended by student, staff and distinguished guests, all gathering to commemorate Fiji’s independence and national identity.

The Chief Guest, the Superintendent of Police, Mr. Luke Cerenasiga, who is also the Divisional Manager of Community Policing in the North, addressed the issue of drug abuse among the youth, emphasizing its impact on individuals, families, and communities, and the need for collective efforts to combat it.

Mr. Ratuyaluma, a student, delivered insights on Fiji’s history and the significance of Independence Day. He reminded participants of the struggles and sacrifices that shaped the nation, enhancing their understanding of Fiji’s journey towards independence.

The celebration included a cultural performance by a group of students featuring traditional Fijian dance and music. The performance was well-received and added a vibrant cultural touch to the event.

The celebration concluded successfully with heartfelt thanks extended to the Chief Guest, the speakers, performers and attendees.

Such celebrations are vital in nurturing patriotism, awareness and cultural pride within the community, especially among the youth.
