The orientation program for new students was held on February 21st and 22nd, 2024, at the campus from 9 am to 1 pm each day. A total of 160 students attended the event, which comprised various informative sessions to help them transition smoothly into their academic life.
The programme began with a welcome address, followed by a presentation from the Student Administrative Services (SAS) Coordinator, Mr. Sanjeev Sharma. This session covered important dates, SAS policies for exams, student details, course offerings, and other related policies. Additionally, the Finance Section presented information about fees and special considerations planned for the semester.
During the second session, the PTAFE Acting Coordinator, Mrs. Madhu Lata addressed Pacific TAFE students, emphasizing the details of PacTAFE programs, class timetables, and the importance of following proper communication channels. Assistant Lecturer, Dr. Ashish Kumar from the Discipline of Education also provided an overview of the programmes offered by the discipline. Another significant presentation delivered by Mr. Asesela Vitukawalu focused on bullying and harassment, underscoring the importance of maintaining a safe and respectful environment. This was followed by a presentation on JENESEYS.
After the second session, students participated in a campus tour and Moodle training sessions. These sessions were facilitated by campus staff and assisted by student ushers.
A similar orientation programme was also held at the Savusavu Centre on the 23rd of February, 2024. A total of 21 students attended the program and were officially welcomed by the Savusavu Centre Supervisor, Mr. Sairusi Lui.
