Vice-Chancellor and President Visits USP Labasa Campus

The Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Pal Ahluwalia, along with the Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Walter Fraser, and the Executive Officer (DVC’s Office – RC & GE), Ms. Renuka Singh, made an official visit to Labasa Campus on January 30th and 31st, 2025, as part of USP’s ongoing commitment to strengthening and enhancing regional campuses

During the visit, the delegation met with the Acting Campus Director, staff, and the student association to discuss key developments and challenges. The focal point of the discussions was the university’s commitment to delivering an equitable student experience and engagement regardless of remoteness and location.

Addressing the staff, Professor Pal Ahluwalia emphasized the institution’s commitment to providing quality education and expanding academic opportunities for students at regional areas. “It is crucial that all students, regardless of their geographical location, have access to quality education,” the VC and President stated.

As part of the visit, Professor Pal Ahluwalia toured campus facilities, including PTAFE center. Discussions also ensued on infrastructure improvements and ensuring that the campus is technology enabled to facilitate a quality student experience.

The visit concluded with a strong commitment to fostering ongoing dialogue and initiatives to improve the learning experience of students at Labasa Campus. The Vice-Chancellor and President affirmed that the insights gathered from staff and students would be instrumental in shaping future development plans in the region.
