Seventeen journalism students were rewarded and recognised during the 20th University of the South Pacific Journalism Student Awards Night on 10 December.    The USP Journalism Awards is the longest running, most consistent journalism awards in the Pacific region.   The Most Outstanding Graduating Students award went to Jared Koli and Shreya Kumar. Ben Bilua wins an international fellowship in Denmark - 16 Dec 2020 09:45:00 am
Final year USP journalism and law student Ben Bilua from Solomon Islands has been chosen as one of only two university journalism students in the region to win an international fellowship in Denmark after competing in an Australasian student journalism project across 27 institutions.   The fellowship prize winners were among hundreds of students across Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific, who took part in the multimedia project, encompassing a three-day television broadcast, radio show, and podcast series as well as published work on The Junction. ... The knowledge and skills gained from a workshop by the staff and students of The University of the South Pacific (USP) Emalus Campus will be used to progress Geospatial Information Technology in Vanuatu.   The workshop was organised by the Faculty of Science Technology and Environment (FSTE). USP Marshall Islands Campus Hosting the Majuro Ocean Sports Club (MOSC) - 11 Dec 2020 04:48:01 pm
The USP Marshall Island campus recently began hosting the Majuro Ocean Sports Club (MOSC) at campus.  MOSC is a new NGO that was incorporated in 2019 with a grant of USD 75,000 through the North Pacific Development Fund from the New Zealand Embassy in Hawaii.    Through the grant, MOSC received four 6-person, two 1-person and one 3-person New Zealand-crafted paddling outrigger canoes which were delivered to the RMI campus on 10 October 2020. USP’s alumni forms new human rights alumni body - 10 Dec 2020 05:33:47 pm
The University of the South Pacific’s Diploma in Leadership Governance and Human Rights Alumni and graduates have formed a human rights alumni body.   The newly formed USP Human Rights Alumni Association (USP HRAA) will facilitate and serve as the pillar of human rights coordinating mechanism, with the aim to advocate, educate and disseminate human rights, governance and leadership information. It will also focus on enhancing the capacity of regional students to advocate on these issues in the Pasifika context. The 90th Council meeting of The University of the South Pacific successfully concluded on Thursday 19 November 2020.  The two-day meeting was held at the Japan-Pacific ICT Centre from 18th November.   The USP Council is the highest decision-making body of the University and meets twice a year to discuss the affairs of the University. USP Film Launch to promote gender Equality - 26 Nov 2020 11:43:13 am
