The Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Education) is the custodian of the ‘Education’ portfolio at USP. The ‘Education’ portfolio is the heart and core business of the university and it deals with learning and teaching,  student support services, and all student experience and student success-related matters starting right from getting admission into USP and all the way through one’s student journey until completions and graduating from USP.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Education), Professor Jito Vanualailai manages the Education portfolio at USP. Professor Jito Vanualailai has been with USP for a total of 28 years and has held senior strategic academic and administrative roles within the university for the last 18 years. Professor Vanualailai holds a PhD in Applied Mathematics (Mathematical Control Theory) from Kobe University, Kobe, Japan, a Master of Engineering from the University of the Ryukyus, Japan and an undergraduate degree from The University of the South Pacific.

The Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Education) is aimed at providing the best possible support for each student to succeed and hence it is responsible for the university’s strategies around quality learning and teaching, strengthening student support services, enhancing student experience (post COVID-19), promoting curriculum development and alignment reviews, ensuring student success and attainment of our graduate attributes and outcomes, increasing the portability of our qualifications and improving graduate employability.
