The Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Education) oversees the ‘Education’ portfolio at USP, which is central to the University’s vision and mission. This portfolio focuses on learning and teaching, student support services, and all aspects of student experience and success, from admission to graduation.
Professor
Jito Vanualailai, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Education), leads the USP education portfolio. With 30 years of service at USP, including 20 years in senior strategic academic and administrative roles, Professor Vanualailai brings extensive experience and leadership to the Education portfolio. He holds a PhD in Applied Mathematics (Mathematical Control Theory) from Kobe University, Japan, a Master of Engineering from the University of the Ryukyus, Japan, and an undergraduate degree from The University of the South Pacific.

We focus on enhancing student support services, enriching the overall student experience, and ensuring the attainment of crucial graduate attributes and learning outcomes. We support student success and improve graduate employability by continuously reviewing and updating our academic programmes to remain relevant to the Pacific context and incorporate global perspectives. Additionally, we work to increase the portability of our qualifications, ensuring our graduates are well-prepared for diverse opportunities across the region and beyond.
