The University of the South Pacific (USP) Emalus Campus hosted more than 600 high school students from across Vanuatu at its Digicel Pacific Emalus Campus Open Day 2025 last week.
The event served as a gateway for prospective students to explore the diverse academic opportunities available at USP’s Vanuatu campus.
Kailav Lal, a student from Port Vila International School, said the event was an invaluable experience.
“This event is an excellent opportunity for students to visit and learn how USP operates. The entire experience has been both educational and engaging,” he said.
USP Emalus Campus officer-in-charge, Dr Monovi Amani, highlighted the importance of the event, particularly for high school students and those aspiring to pursue higher education.
“This event is specifically designed to provide prospective students with a comprehensive introduction to our university’s programmes,” Amani added.
“The Open Day offers a direct, interactive environment for high school students to engage with programme coordinators and current students.”
“This face-to-face interaction is crucial for obtaining accurate information and a genuine understanding of our institutional culture, ultimately helping individuals explore their potential future with us.”
The Open Day provided a unique platform for young learners to gain first-hand insights into academic life at Emalus Campus.
The Open Day included interactive booth displays, engaging sessions with students and visitors and information on the various programmes on offer and the application and entry requirement.
USP has six schools; the School of Accounting, Finance and Economics (SAFE), School of Business and Management (SBM), School of Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Physics (STEMP), School of Agriculture, Geography, Environment, Ocean and Natural Sciences (SAGEONS), School of Law and Social Sciences (SoLaSS), School of Pacific Arts, Communication and Education (SPACE) and the Pacific Technical and Further Education (Pacific TAFE) and the Centre for Sustainable Futures (CSF), that offers programmes to students in the region and beyond.
