Bursary Scheme now open, application closes Friday, January 13, 2023

The University of the South Pacific is inviting private students wishing to continue their studies in Semester 1, 2023 to apply for the USP Bursary Scheme now.

The USP Bursary Scheme offers financial assistance to approximately 250-300 private undergraduate or postgraduate level students across all its member countries.

The scheme has greatly benefited numerous students in the past who have gone on to successfully complete their studies at USP and stands to ensure students are not hampered by their financial circumstances.

Acting Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Jito Vanualailai, said the University is dedicated to assisting students from all backgrounds in obtaining high-quality education irrespective of their financial background.

This financial assistance has helped hundreds of students regionally, one of whom is Mr Rohinil Kumar who recently completed his postgraduate diploma in Climate Change Adaptation with the School of Agriculture, Geography, Environment, Ocean and Natural Sciences.
Mr Kumar said the availability of the Bursary Scheme “allowed me to pursue a postgraduate diploma in Climate Change Adaptation at PaCE-SD and it was such a blessing because they end up paying half of my tuition for each semester.”

“As a student, the assistance provided to me for the entirety of my postgraduate study alleviated some of my financial stress and allowed me to focus more on my study,” Mr Kumar added.

Meanwhile, all registered students who have completed at least one semester are eligible for bursary assistance, excluding students supported by other sponsorship or scholarship schemes.

The applicants need a GPA of 2.5 or above in the most recent term and have a combined family income of not more than FJD 25 000 a year to be eligible for consideration under the Scheme.
