NORI grant to help shape communities and students of Nauru

The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Nauru Ocean Resource Inc (NORI) and The University of the South Pacific (USP) would be of great benefit to students at the Nauru Campus.

Through the signing, NORI has granted AUD 10,000 to the USP Nauru Campus for phase 2 of its project that is aimed to fund community programmes across a range of impact areas such as youth education, ocean health and environment, women’s empowerment among others.

NORI In-Country Manager, Mr Peter Jacob said the partnership is an opportunity for youth of Nauru and the country to create future scientists and environmentalists for the island country.

He added that the programme would further set them to reap academic and professional benefits.

The MOU was signed late 2021 between the two organisations to fund science preliminary and foundation programmes for Year 11 students under USP.

The USP Nauru Campus expressed its gratitude for NORI’s generosity with their continuing financial support to create more educated youths of Nauru for a greater and better future for the country and its people.
