USP Nauru Campus hosted over 100 students during Open Day

Over a hundred students flocked to our Nauru Campus last Friday to participate and gain insights on what programmes they can pursue after high school during The University of the South Pacific (USP) Open Day.

Officiating as Chief Guest during the event, Nauru’s Minister for Education and Training, Honourable Richard-Hyde Menk, commended USP for allowing students to learn more about the career path(s) available to them.

While addressing students, USP Nauru Campus Officer in Charge Felicity Canon said, “Our theme for this year’s open day is “Our People, Our Stories” to align with the university’s Prospectus theme for 2024.”

“Our focus is to emphasise the relationship between our university and our people. That it is your university, your education, and your future.”

She added, “We have a diverse and vibrant community, with students and staff from all over our Pacific region, and we believe that the people who make up our community make it unique.”

Ms Canon said the USP Open Day is a perfect opportunity for students to clarify any questions or queries about the relevant programmes offered at the USP Nauru Campus and in all other member countries.

“We are all drawn together by our shared love of learning and commitment to making a difference in our lives, to contribute positively to the betterment of our nation and the world at large.”

“Today (Friday, September 8th, 2023), you will have the opportunity to meet some of our students, faculty, and staff and hear stories from current students and our alumni.”

USP staff, alumni and students were glad to be part of the USP Nauru Open Day, imparting their knowledge and experience and explaining how the various programmes offered at USP are relevant to national progress, Pacific development and personal growth.

The Nauru Campus Officer in Charge also emphasised USP’s position in working towards academic excellence, research initiatives, and campus and student life.

“We hope this will give you a better understanding of what makes our campus unique and for you to consider joining our USP Nauru Campus community.”

USP Open Day is an annual event across all USP Campuses in all member countries. It aims to equip students with the necessary information to make informed decisions on what programme they can pursue.
