USPSA President and Chair of Student Council hosted at USP Laucala Campus

 

The USP Students’ Association (USPSA) President & Chair of Student Council, Mr Mani Mate was hosted this morning at the USP Laucala Campus by Deputy Vice-Chancellor & Vice-Presidents (DVC & VP), Dr Giulio Paunga and Prof. Jito Vanualailai.

Mr Mate, who is based at the USP Cook Islands Campus since his election as the Student President in 2021 arrived at the USP Laucala campus this morning. The meeting this morning with both the DVC&VPs was Mr Mate’s first engagement for his week-long visit to the main USP Campus. In his discussions with Dr Punga and Prof. Vanualailai, Mr Mate shared updates on the USPSA engagements and collaborations with regional and international partners around areas of quality education, good governance, anti-corruption, and social and gender inclusion. In addition to these, they discussed some challenges and opportunities related to student support services and regional campuses.

They also discussed about the challenges in USP member countries pertaining to COVID-19 and its impacts on the Learning and Teaching environment. Mr Mate thanked both the DVCs for their continuous efforts in engaging with the USPSA and the Student Council through the Vice-Chancellor & Presidents office.  Both the DVCs & VPs shared a number of updates with Mr Mate in relation to campus development, learning and teaching and global engagement.

Mr Mate was accompanied by the USPSA Secretary General, Mr. Emosi Vakarua and the Deputy Secretary General Mr Aneet Kumar.
