Foundation Studies

Students interested in pursuing Foundation Studies have a variety of Foundation and Preliminary subjects to choose from. The college offers Preliminary Arts, Preliminary Business and Preliminary Science programmes. Students can also choose to do Foundation Arts, Foundation Business and Foundation Science programmes to prepare them for undergraduate studies.

Preliminary Programmes

1. Preliminary Arts Programme

The Preliminary Arts programme (PA) is designed for students who wish to pursue foundation studies in the arts stream or take up certificate or diploma studies in the skills based programmes of Pacific TAFE. This qualification will equip students with a range of skills and knowledge that includes research, communication, critical thinking, and knowledge on Pacific societies, politics and history. This programme provides opportunities for students to be creative, work collaboratively and use technology as a learning tool

2. Preliminary Business Programme 

The Preliminary Business Studies programme (PBS) is designed for students who wish to pursue foundation studies in the commerce stream or take up certificate or diploma studies in the skills based programmes of Pacific TAFE. Students will learn the basic rules, concepts and theories required for further studies in Accounting and Economics at the Foundation level as well as communication skills in an academic context. This programme provides opportunities for students to be creative, work collaboratively and use technology as a learning tool.

 3. Preliminary Science Programme

The Preliminary Science programme (PSN) is designed for students who wish to take up studies in Foundation Science or certificate and diploma programs offered by Pacific TAFE.  Students will learn basic fundamental science concepts and principles, develop necessary laboratory skills and experimental procedures, problem solving and communication skills.  This programme provides opportunities for students to be creative, work collaboratively and use technology as a learning tool.

2. Foundation Business Programme

The Foundation Business programme (FNBS) is designed to prepare students for degree studies in Commerce and other related undergraduate programmes.
