Accessing Journal Rankings in Business and Management
Overview
Understanding journal quality is essential when deciding where to publish or when preparing for promotions and research evaluations. Rankings and classification systems help researchers identify reputable publication outlets within the business and related fields.
ABDC Journal Quality List (Australia)
The Australian Business Deans Council (ABDC) maintains a comprehensive and regularly updated list that classifies journals across business, management, economics, marketing, and related disciplines.
You can access the most recent ABDC Journal Quality List directly from the ABDC website.
It allows users to search journals by:
- Field of Research (FoR)
- Journal title or ISSN
- Ranking category (A*, A, B, C)
This list is a widely used resource for assessing journal quality within the Asia-Pacific region.
SBM-Recommended Journal Ranking Resources
While USP does not currently maintain an internal journal ranking list, SBM researchers may reference the following external tools to support publication planning:
- ABDC List – Recognised across the Pacific and Australian business schools.
- SCImago Journal Rank (SJR) – Offers citation-based journal indicators using Scopus data.
- Journal Citation Reports (JCR) – Provides impact factors and quartile rankings based on Web of Science data.
