The Discipline of Land Management and Development was established in the 1980s, before that Land Management degree was not offered at USP. The Department was subsequently changed to the Discipline of Land Management and Development and now comes under the School of Business and Management. Over the years several improvements have been made in the curriculum to fulfil the need of the real estate and land resources sector in the South Pacific region.
The Discipline seeks to advance holistic knowledge for sustainable development of land resources in the Pacific Island countries through innovative research and teaching. As an academic body, the discipline recognises and values the role and partnership of its staff in research, consultancy and advisory with different stakeholders in the real estate, rural and urban development and land use planning and tenure sector.
