Message from the School
Welcome to The University of the South Pacific’s School of Business and Management (SBM). I have had the honor to lead the School since January 2021 and have been a proud member of the USP faculty since 2006. Our faculty at SBM are dedicated, excellent teachers committed to student success while also pursuing meaningful research in their disciplines. SBM offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Business, management, public administration, tourism, hospitality management, and land management. Besides acquiring competencies in respective majors and minors, our students also are skilled in critical thinking, communication, thinking globally, and working within a diverse workforce.
COVID-19 has affected all of us in several ways, and we have been dealing with the upheaval in our lives from many different angles. This has caused significant stress and stretched us all too thin. Nevertheless, despite these many challenges, we have been successful in switching to online delivery so quickly. We have modified our courses, content, and delivery to suit virtual settings and to reflect the Covid-19 context. We have adjusted the number and duration of our daily course sessions to facilitate remote participation and interactive engagement. All of our students are adjusting well to an educational experience much different from what we expected.
At SBM, we are here for you. We are seriously paying attention to and working hard to address the issues and challenges facing you throughout this time. Thank you all for your continued hard work and support and for letting you know that we are here to help in any way we can. We recognize the potential of our students for further greatness. Along with my team, I will always do my best to advocate for advancing business and management education for all who wish to pursue that dream. It is comforting to know that SBM programs have a growing national and international reputation. Our accredited programs in business and tourism have a good reputation and global rankings. Our faculty, staff, alumni, and diverse campus culture presents a unique environment for you to accelerate your path to educational excellence in pursuing your passion and your research.
On behalf of all of us at SBM, I thank you all for your patience, persistence, and determination during this COVID-19 crisis. I encourage you to stay in close communication with your course coordinators and tutors. They are your first line of contact and aid to help you stay on track with your academics. Our faculty has done a fantastic job by moving many courses online within a short period to achieve their educational goals. Do not hesitate to reach out to us in the School for additional support and resources. Our team of administrative staff and Deputy Heads of Schools at SBM are working together to help you throughout these challenging times
Please continue to take care of yourself and your families and stay healthy and safe. Strictly follow the latest COVID-19 health guidelines, restrictions, and announcements from the Ministry of Health.
