MBA Alumni Association (MBAAA) hosted a Pre-Launch Event

The Graduate School’s MBA Alumni Association (MBAAA) hosted a Pre-Launch Event on Friday, 25 July 2025, marking an important milestone in the development of the association. The event’s primary aim was to introduce the interim MBAAA Executive Committee, update alumni on the progress of the association, and engage them in shaping its governance and future direction. It also served as a key platform to support the University of the South Pacific’s (USP) efforts toward AMBA accreditation, particularly through the formation of the Executive Committee and the scheduling of two events aimed at enhancing alumni engagement.
During the event, several key topics were discussed, including the journey and timeline leading to the formation of the interim committee, an overview of the draft MBAAA Constitution (version 1.4), and the governance structure. Alumni also learned about strategic partnerships with the Graduate School of Business, the USP Alumni Association, and broader industry stakeholders. Other important topics included the membership drive, the upcoming elections for the Executive Committee, and opportunities for alumni involvement, such as volunteering, mentoring, and sharing ideas. The alumni provided valuable suggestions, emphasizing the need for a transparent, flexible association and practical ways to contribute, including creating special interest groups, networking platforms, and regional collaboration initiatives.
The event concluded with strong takeaways, including the solid foundation laid by the interim committee in terms of governance and strategic intent. The success of the MBAAA will rely heavily on active alumni participation, diverse input, and sustained engagement. Alumni will play a key role in guiding the association’s future, ensuring it remains relevant and impactful. With the next event scheduled for Friday, 12 September, for the West Alumni, followed by the elections, the MBAAA looks forward to continued growth and active alumni involvement. The interim committee also encouraged attendees to provide feedback on the constitution and consider standing for roles in the Executive Committee, ensuring a collaborative approach to the association’s future.
