The mood in the University of the South Pacific (USP) Lautoka Campus was upbeat and lively as the students and staff were totally absorbed in the festive spirit of Holi.
Students and staff of all ethnicities smeared each otherís faces with bright colours during the celebrations held at the campus on Thursday, 20 March, 2014.
USP Lautoka Campusís Student Officer Devika Ram spoke on the significance of Holi, the Hindu festival of colours that is celebrated around the world.
She said Holi, spring celebration of love, frolic and colours, was also celebrated in Fiji in its unique fashion, whereby people of all ethnic groups joined in the spirit to celebrate this popular festival.
Ms. Ram thanked the USPSA for organizing the function and on behalf of the Campus Director and staff, wished everyone a happy and blessed Holi.
Chief Guest at the function, Ifiremi Naruma from the USPSA Federal branch in Suva also gave his special address to the students and took the opportunity to convey his Holi greetings to the students and staff of the campus.
The students entertained everyone with interesting items that included singing and dancing.
Everyone was treated to sweets, which is customary to the Holi festival, as well as lunch.
