College of Foundation Studies we offer Preliminary Arts, Preliminary Business and Preliminary Science programmes. We also have Foundation Arts, Foundation Business and Foundation Science programmes. 

Preliminary Programmes

1. Preliminary Arts Programme

The Preliminary Arts programme (PA) is designed for students who wish to pursue foundation studies in the arts stream or take up certificate or diploma studies in the skills based programmes of Pacific TAFE. This qualification will equip students with a range of skills and knowledge that includes research, communication, critical thinking, and knowledge on Pacific societies, politics and history. This programme provides opportunities for students to be creative, work collaboratively and use technology as a learning tool

2. Preliminary Business Programme

The Preliminary Business Studies programme (PBS) is designed for students who wish to pursue foundation studies in the commerce stream or take up certificate or diploma studies in the skills based programmes of Pacific TAFE. Students will learn the basic rules, concepts and theories required for further studies in Accounting and Economics at the Foundation level as well as communication skills in an academic context. 3. Preliminary Science Programme

The Preliminary Science programme(PSN) is designed for students who wish to take up studies in Foundation Science or certificate and diploma programs offered by Pacific TAFE. Students will learn basic fundamental science concepts and principles develop necessary laboratory skills and experimental procedures, problem solving and communication skills. This programme provides opportunities for students to be creative, work collaboratively and use technology as a learning tool.

The Preliminary of Science programme (PSN) under the new College of Science, Technology and Environment will offer the following disciplines:

Biology

Chemistry

Computing Science

Information Systems

Mathematics

Physics

Students will learn about Pacific societies, their cultures, politics and histories. They will develop research skills, learn to become critical thinkers as well as build on oral and written communication skills. This programme provides opportunities for students to be creative, work collaboratively and use technology as a learning tool.

2. Foundation Business Programme

The Foundation Business programme (FNBS) is designed to prepare students for degree studies in Commerce and other related undergraduate programmes. Students will develop skills in using accounting information, perform economic calculations and analyse simple real life events to determine the operations of a business. Students will also learn the basic principles and concepts necessary for further studies in agriculture and official statistics. This programme will also provide opportunities for students to be creative, work collaboratively and use technology as a learning tool.

The Foundation Business programme (FNBS) under the new College of Business, Tourism and Hospitality will offer the following disciplines:

3. Foundation Science Programme

The Foundation Science programme (FNSN) is designed to prepare students for degree studies in Science or other related undergraduate programmes. Students will learn fundamental scientific concepts and principles continue to develop laboratory and experimental procedures, oral and written communication skills, and problem solving. Students will also broaden their knowledge and views on global and Pacific environments. This programme provides opportunities for students to be creative, work collaboratively and use technology as a learning tool.
