Pacific Regional Organisations

 

The following organisations are members of the Council of Regional Organisations in the Pacific (CROP).

- Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat

The mission of the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (FORSEC) is to work in support of the 16 Forum Member governments to enhance the economic and social well-being of the people of the South Pacific by fostering cooperation between governments and between international agencies, and by representing the interests of Forum members in ways agreed by the Forum. - Forum Fisheries Agency

The Forum Fisheries Agency (FFA) is a regional organisation that provides expert fisheries management advice and services to member countries. FFA has 16 country members and one territory member from the western and central Pacific region. Their office is located in Honiara, Solomon Islands. Their website address is: www.ffa.int

- Pacific Islands Development Programme

The role of the Pacific Islands Development Programme (PIDP) a regional organization has expanded to include the following five major activity areas: Secretariat of the Pacific Islands Conference of Leaders, United States/Pacific Island Nations Joint Commercial Commission Secretariat, research, education and training, and Pacific Islands News. - Secretariat of the Pacific Community

The Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) is the premier regional technical and development organisation of the Pacific. An international organisation, SPC works in partnership with its members, other organisations and donors to deliver priority work programmes to member countries and territories. The SPC's head office is located at Noumea, New Caledonia. Their website address is: www.spc.int

- South Pacific Applied Geoscience Commission

The South Pacific Applied Geoscience Commission (SOPAC) work focuses on providing assistance to its 20 member countries in three key programme areas: Ocean and Islands Programme, Community Lifelines Programme and Community Risk Programme. The SOPAC Secretariat is located at Nabua, Fiji. Their website address is: www.sopac.org

- South Pacific Regional Environmental Programme

The mandate of the South Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) is to promote cooperation in the Pacific islands region and to provide assistance in order to protect and improve the environment and to ensure sustainable development for present and future generations. SPREP has 21 Member Countries and four affiliated non-Pacific countries. Their website address is: www.sprep.org.ws

- South Pacific Tourism Organisation

The South Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO) is the mandated inter-governmental body for the tourism sector in the South Pacific. In addition to thirteen member countries, SPTO also represents over 100 of the region's leading tourism private sector operators. Their website address is: www.spto.org

- South Pacific Board for Educational Assessment

The South Pacific Board for Educational Assessment (SPBEA) provides quality education assessment information and research to Pacific Islands. SPBEA has 11 Member Countries. Their website address is: www.spbea.org.fj

- University of the South Pacific

The University of the South Pacific (USP) is the premier provider of tertiary education in the Pacific Region, and an international centre of excellence for teaching and research on all aspects of Pacific culture and environment. USP has 12 Member Countries. It has three campuses: Laucala Campus located in Suva, Fiji; Alafua Campus located in Apia, Samoa; and Emalus Campus located in Port Vila, Vanuatu. - Fiji School of Medicine

The Fiji School of Medicine (FSM) is a tertiary health institution which provides training and education for health professionals in the South Pacific. FSM is located in Suva, Fiji. Their website address is: www.fsm.ac.fj
