Suva

Suva is the center of political, economic, and cultural affairs. It is the largest city in the South Pacific and is the capital city of Fiji since 1882. The city is on the southeast coast of the island of Viti Levu.

Once you have settled in at the hotel you can walk around town although it is not recommended to walk around alone after dark. There are a number of shopping malls, small local shops, internet cafes, small snack outlets, pharmacies etc in the central business district which is open from 9am-5pm on weekdays. Tapped water in the city is safe to drink. There is a vast selection of food choices available in town to suit all budgets. Additionally if you do not purchase a sim card at the airport, there are a number of outlets in Suva city for all three mobile service providers.

SAFETY TIPS

Make sure you always (even when you sleep) carry your cards, passport, money or any other important documents on you in your money belt for extra precaution. When you are in Suva town, beware of pickpockets.
