Irwin Angikisonga, Acting Editor, Island Sun

Irwin Angikisonga completed a Bachelor of Science in 2009 but decided to take a different career path in 2015, taking up reporting/media. He currently works as Acting Editor for the Island Sun Newspaper in the Solomon Islands and has decided to enrol in the Bachelor in Communication & Media because this specially designed programme offers the most appropriate courses which will help him in his career in Media. Being in the mainstream media and as a working student, Irwin is finding the programme extremely helpful. He also says the options of taking on PR and Comms jobs don’t seem that intimidating anymore.

Wanshika Kumar, Fiji Times reporter

Wanshika Kumar completed a BA in Journalism and Literature/Language in 2021. She worked as a reporter at The Fiji Times for two years before shifting to India to pursue a Masters in Journalism. Journalism requires an art of storytelling which conveys news and important information to the audience and her programme equipped her with insights into narratives and the art of storytelling, exposed her to different cultures and contexts, and allowed her to become the voice of many voiceless communities. The literature and language courses equipped her with a strong foundation in writing, critical thinking, communication, and cultural awareness, which are the key ingredients of journalism.
