Shreya Kumar, Communication Officer, Institute of Education USP

Shreya Kumar completed a BA in Journalism and Linguistics in 2021. She worked as a business journalist at the Fiji Sun and then as a subeditor for The Fiji Times for two years before joining USP’s Institute of Education as Communication Officer. This role involves promoting the Institute’s programmes and activities through various means and managing and facilitating communications between the Institute and the stakeholders. She has also been able to further her studies by enrolling in a Postgraduate Diploma in Diplomacy and International Affairs.

Allen Waitara, Communications Coordinator, World Vision Solomon Islands

Allen Waitara graduated with a BA in Literature/Language and Journalism in 2017. He worked first as a journalist for the Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation (SIBC). He then joined World Vision Solomon Islands as a Communications Officer in 2020 and was later promoted as a Communications Coordinator. Allen is also pursuing a Post Graduate Diploma in Linguistics.

Tiito Kaeka, Public and Media Relations Officer, Kiribati Police Service

Tiito Kaeka, a former English teacher, graduated with a BAGCED in Literature/Language and Geography in 2017, and returned to Kiribati as a teacher and school principal. However, he soon used his degree to pursue a completely different career path, becoming the Public and Media Relations Officer of the Kiribati Police Service. Meanwhile, he has found time to continue studying Linguistics, undertaking MA research in 2023 to investigate dialect variation in his own language.
