Student body representatives meet with USP VCP

The University of the South Pacific Student Association (USPSA) Federal, together with Student Association Branch Presidents from Laucala, Lautoka and Labasa campuses today hosted the USP Vice-Chancellor and President (VCP), Professor Pal Ahluwalia and his wife Ms Sandy Price to lunch. Also, in attendance at the lunch was USP Chief Operating Officer (COO), Walter Fraser.

The USPSA Vice-President and Member of USP Council, Mr Lepani Naqarase welcomed VCP Professor Ahluwalia and his wife Sandy, and the COO to the headquarters of the University’s Student body, the USPSA Federal Office.

The lunch was an opportunity for the representatives from the student body to meet and brief the VCP on their plans and activities for the academic year 2023.

USPSA Federal Secretary General Mr Emosi Vakarua thanked Professor Ahluwalia for making time to meet with the student reps from the three major campuses in Fiji.

“We are happy to have you here with us and we look forward to you being part of many of our events and engagements throughout the year,” Mr Vakarua said.

VCP Professor Ahluwalia thanked the student leaders for their continuous support to the University’s delivery of quality education to all students across the 14 campuses in its 12 member countries.

“We want you to know that we are happy to have such a strong and united student body, and we look forward to working more with our students in enabling them to reach their highest potential,” Professor Ahluwalia added.

Also speaking at the event, Mr Walter Fraser highlighted some of his key responsibilities as the University’s inaugural Chief Operating Officer.

“I think there are two parts of the university as far as I am concerned that is the students and the staff that support the students whether they are teaching or the services that they offer the students. I think both aspects are critical and as the Vice-Chancellor has indicated that’s part of my portfolio and that will be my chief objective, that is to ensure we are here for the students and that is to have the full student experience that USP is well-known for,” Mr Fraser said.
