USP Enrolment Fair underway

The University of the South Pacific (USP) 2023 Enrolment Fair kicked off on Monday and attracted a good number of students on its first day.

This was especially for continuing and first-year students who came to collect their offer letters and ID cards, and submitted relevant documents requested by the USP Student Administrative Services.

The Fair provides an opportunity for students to engage with experienced staff and have any questions answered relating to their choice of programme they hope to enrol in this year.

Students can also learn more about the different services the University offers, as well as flexible payment options for fees and the various scholarships available.

Talama Kaiea, a first-year student from Kiribati said students who are joining the University for the first time must capitalise on this enrolment initiative and not shy away from asking questions to the support services team members who stand ready to assist students.

Kaiea arrived from Kiribati on Sunday afternoon, and this would be her first time in Fiji and travelling out of Kiribati.

“I am astonished by the scenario that greeted me yesterday. Getting off in Nadi and travelling along the highway by bus, I was in awe seeing the views, big buildings, vehicles and the hustle and bustle in the capital city. And coming into USP, I believe it would take me at least two to three months to familiarise myself with the map of the University and the greater Suva area,” she said.

The Bwangantebure, Tarawa, Kiribati native has been admitted into the Bachelor of Commerce in Human Resource Management and Employment Relations programme as she aspires to be in the human resources sector.

“I wanted to become an HR officer in any organisation in Kiribati and to give back to my country. I want to make a difference in my family and be an agent of change in my community. I am well versed with the different units I will undertake this semester after a thorough discussion with a student support services team member during the enrolment fair,” Kaiea added.

Kaiea stated that students must make the most of the 2023 Enrolment Fair as it was an avenue to learn about USP’s programmes on offer. Students can also receive first-hand information on any changes made to their programmes and general inquiries amongst other services provided.

The Enrolment Fair is happening at the USP Laucala Campus, where the welcome or reception tent is located at the Student Car Park and the academics and other support staff are based at the AusAID tutorial block to assist students enrolling for Semester 1, starting 13 February 2023.
