USP Pacific TAFE recognises student high achievers

 
The University of the South Pacific (USP), Pacific Technical and Further Education (Pacific TAFE) recognized its high achieving students in medals and prizes giving ceremony at the Japan-Pacific ICT Centre on 25 September 2020.
Twenty-four (24) students from Pacific TAFE walked away with gold medal and prizes from the Sixty-Six (66) graduates.
Prashneel Ram recipient of gold medals and prize in three different award categories was ecstatic after the awards ceremony.
“I am speechless and I cannot really explain how happy I am after receiving the awards,” he said.
“I would like to acknowledge the Almighty, my parents, relatives and friends who have been part of this wonderful journey. Most of all I would like to acknowledge Pacific TAFE Coordinators, Facilitators and administrative staff for their guidance and support.”
Prashneel was recipient of the most outstanding graduate in Pacific TAFE – Gold Medal and Prize, the most outstanding graduate in the College of Science, Technology & Environment – Gold Medal and Prize and Diploma of Information Technology (Level 5) – Prize. Prashneel who works as a System Analyst for the Home Finance Company (HFC) bank also dedicated the award to his colleagues, supervisors and management team.
“USP Pacific TAFE values quality and this is reflected through the hard yards put in by my course coordinators and facilitators,” he said. “Pacific TAFE provides students with excellent resource facility; flexible study environment and outstanding teaching staff that make every students academic journey an enjoyable one.”
Professor Pal Ahluwalia, Vice-Chancellor and President USP while delivering his key note address congratulated the students on their achievements.
These awards are but a small tribute to honoring your hard work, dedication and accomplishments in your respective fields of study. Each one of you here tonight has been chosen purely on merit and we are proud that you all are excellent ambassadors of this University and your country and will remain so in the future.
The road to excellence requires hard work, dedication, focus, ambition, commitment and countless sacrifices. It is not an easy path. Our young achievers have shown us that anything is possible if one has the right mindset, attitude and inspiration to achieve one’s goals. You are the stars of tonight’s function. I want to personally thank you for bringing credit to yourselves, your families, country and the University.
The four sponsors for USP Pacific TAFE were Communications Fiji Ltd Gold Medal and Prize for the most outstanding Pacific TAFE graduate, Core Builders Gold Medal and Prize for the most outstanding graduate in the College of Business & Commerce, Lodhia’s Travel Services Prize for the most outstanding graduate in the Diploma of Human Resource Management (Level 5) programme and Gremm Chemicals who partially sponsored Prize for the most outstanding graduate in the Certificate IV in Resilience (Climate Change Adaptation & Disaster Risk Management) programme.
