BEN Gollings has been fired from his post as the Fiji Airways Men’s 7s coach and replaced by former Fiji 7s captain Osea Kolinisau.

The announcement was made by the Fiji Rugby Union board chairman Peter Mazey at Rugby House in Suva this morning during a press conference.

An online news update on the Fiji Times website said Gollings’ sacking came after Fiji’s failure to win a title on the HSBC SVNS Series over 19 consecutive tournaments.

According to The Fiji Times Mazey said FRU had been in discussion with Kolinisau since December last year regarding his willingness to coach the team.

It said Mazey confirmed they would soon announce an advisory group to help the Fiji 7s team.

According to reports on FBC Gollings was hired in December 2021 on a three-year contract, replacing Gareth Baber, who guided Fiji to a second Olympic Games gold medal in Tokyo.

The former England captain led Fiji to its third Melrose Cup victory at the 2022 Rugby World Cup in Cape Town, South Africa.
