First Year Buddy Programme
At the University of the South Pacific (USP), we are dedicated to fostering an inclusive, supportive, and engaging environment for all students. Our goal is to help students build a sense of community, enhance their academic potential, and provide the necessary resources for success.
The Campus Life (CL) First Year Experience (FYE) Office is committed to ensuring that all first-year students, regardless of school, have access to the CL FYE Buddy Program. This program offers non-academic mentorship and support to ease the transition into university life. The CL FYE Buddy Program helps new students:
- Familiarize themselves with campus facilities and resources.
- Identify available support services, including university offices, policies, and procedures.
- Understand academic procedures such as assignment submissions and library services.
- Participate in social events to connect with other students.
- Build confidence and navigate the challenges of adjusting to university life.
How to Connect with a Buddy:
You can sign up for the CL FYE Buddy Program anytime during your Orientation Week. Look for our CL FYE Buddies who will be actively participating in Orientation activities and will be easily identifiable by their T-shirts. You can also register at any Information Booth or with your Orientation tour guides. Many Buddies will also be serving as your tour guides during this time. If you’re unable to sign up for a Buddy at Orientation, simply reach out via email to: prakashni.ram@usp.ac.fj.
