Health services

Overview

The Health Care Scheme has been in operation since 1993 and has proven to be a great success. Once you have paid your Health Service Fee for the semester, you are entitled to the attractive features of the scheme, which are as follows:

Key Features

Unlimited Consultations: Members can consult the University Medical Officers at the Medical Centre, regardless of the number of consultations during each semester.

Referrals for Additional Care: Members may be referred by the Nursing Sister or other authorized persons to consult the University Medical Officers at their surgeries in town, or to the local hospital after hours. Alternatively, they may also receive referrals from the University Medical Officers to private specialists for treatment.

Specialist Referrals: Members who require specialist care may be referred by the University Medical Officers to private specialists for further treatment.

Regional and International Students: Members from outside Fiji are covered from their date of arrival in the country, immediately preceding registration until they return home at the end of the second semester.

Membership Requirement

Membership is mandatory for all students from outside Fiji and for those residing in USP Halls of Residence, while it is optional for students from Fiji. Exceptions may be granted upon application to the Campus Life Office for individuals who are members of any other health scheme.
