Student interns in finance

 

The Emalus Campus Finance Section within the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor & Vice President (Regional Campuses and Global Engagement) is looking for two (2) part-time students. USP offers the student an opportunity to integrate theoretical concepts with practical experience in a corporate environment. The Emalus Campus Finance Section manages, conducts the planning and organizing & maintaining of financial income and expenditures for the campus & all the 4 Centers.

This is your chance to be part of our Finance team. The person will be involved in the following:

1) Accounts Receivable student Intern (x1)

· Providing administrative support to the Accounts Receivable Team with regards to timely and accurate processing of invoices for all students at Emalus Campus and submitting to Sponsors invoices for sponsored students

· Assist the Accounts Receivable Team with recording receipts and deposits, including invoicing of student residential charges, staff housing and canteen

· Attend to staff, student and customer queries relating to outstanding debts, in an efficient and effective manner

· Ensure appropriate accounting procedures are followed and records are maintained in accordance with Vanuatu statutory and USP policy requirements

· Use MYOB financial accounting software or ready and able to be trained to use this software

· Providing customer service support

· Performing any other assigned duties


2) Accounting Student Intern (x1)

· Providing administrative support to the Assistant Accountant with regards to the proper management of self-funding entities as the campus seeks to grow these areas, including Capex and Project Funds

· Assist with monthly General Ledger reconciliations

· Use MYOB financial accounting software or ready and able to be trained to use this software

· Assist in following up with commercial banks in identifying deposits

· Reporting any irregularities or suspicious transactions posted into University bank accounts

· Ensure appropriate accounting procedures are followed and records are maintained in accordance with Vanuatu statutory and USP policy requirements

· Perform any other assigned duties

The Person We Seek

We are looking for a fresh, energetic, enthusiastic, and motivated individual who is interested in gaining some industry experience.

To be shortlisted, applicants must:

– Be a 2nd or 3rd year student currently registered as an active Part-time student in Financial Accounting and Office Administration program for Semester One, 2022

– Must be proficient in the use of computers – knowledge of Microsoft Suite 2016

– Have good communication & customer service skills

Remuneration: The position is available for three months at an hourly rate of VUV281.87 per hour for a maximum of 20 hours per week.
