Programme Requirements and Regulations

1. Preliminary Arts

1.1 Admission Requirements:

  1. Successful completion of Year 11/Form 5 with satisfactory school report and reference from school Principal when applying for admission.
  2. Those that scored below 180 in the Fiji Year 12 Examinations or equivalent.

1.2 Courses:

The Programme in Preliminary Arts requires the completion of eight courses. To complete the Arts Programme students must pass LLP14, LLP15 and at least three from the following courses HYPO1, PLP01, GEPO1, GEPO2 and SOP02. For the remaining three courses, students may select from the following electives: MAP11, TEPO2 and ISP21.

2. Foundation Arts

2.1 Admission Requirements:

  1. Fiji: Pass the National Year 12/Form 6 Examination with an aggregate score of 200 out of 400 and at least 50% in each of the four subjects of which one must be English.
  2. Countries sitting their Senior Secondary Certificate or Year 12/Form 6 equivalent: Pass with an aggregate score of 4-19 with English not more than 4 and not more than 5 in 3 other subjects.
  3. From USP Preliminary: Pass in LLP14 & LLP15 and 6 other USP Preliminary courses.
  4. Completed studies at Year 12/Form 6 level deemed equivalent.
  5. Successful completion of Unclassified USP Preliminary requirements.
  6. Those who scored below 180 in the Fiji Year 13 National Examination.

2.2 Courses:

The Foundation Arts programme requires the completion of eight courses whereby a student must pass a total of 8 courses, 2 of which are the compulsory Language courses, LLF14 and LLF15. Students must also complete at least three additional courses chosen from HYF01, PLF01, SOF01, SOF02, GEF01, GEF02. To meet the requirement of the 8 courses, a student can choose from the following: MAF21, TEF02, TEF03, ISF21, CSF12, FJF23, LNF21, AGF01, AFF01, AFF02, ECF04, OSF01.

3. Preliminary Business

3.1 Admission Requirements:

  1. Successful completion of Form 5 or Year 11 with satisfactory school report and reference from school Principal when applying for admission.
  2. Those that scored below 180 in the Fiji Year 12 Examinations or equivalent.

3.2 Courses:

The Preliminary Business programme requires the completion of eight courses whereby a student must pass LLP14, LLP15, and any three courses from AFP01, AFP02, ECP02, ECP03.

For the remainder of the eight courses, students may select from the following optional courses: MAP11, TEP02 and ISP21. If a student is intending to take up Economics and Accounting in Foundation Studies, then MAP12 and MAP13 are also compulsory.

4. Foundation Business

4.1 Admission Requirements:

  1. Fiji: Pass in the National Year 12 Examination with an aggregate score of 200 out of 400 and at least 50% in each of the four subjects of which one must be English.
  2. Countries sitting Senior Secondary Certificate or Form 6 or Year 12 equivalent: Pass with an aggregate score of 4-19 with English not more than 4 and not more than 5 in 3 other subjects.
  3. From USP Preliminary: Pass in LLP14 & LLP15 and 6 other USP Preliminary courses.
  4. Completed studies at Form 6 level/Year 12 deemed equivalent.
  5. Successful completion of USP Preliminary Unclassified requirements.
  6. Those that scored below 180 in the Fiji Year 13 National Examination.

4.2 Courses:

The Foundation Business programme requires the completion of eight courses, 2 of which are the compulsory Language courses, LLF14 and LLF15. Students must also complete at least three additional courses chosen from AFF01, AFF02, ECF04 and OSF01. Students may select the remaining course(s) from the following: MAF21, TEF02, TEF03, ISF21, CSF12, FJF23, LNF21, AGF01, HYF01, PFL01, SOF01, SOF02, GEF01, GEF02. If a student is intending to take up Economics or Finance in degree studies, MAF11, MAF12 are also compulsory.

5. Preliminary Science

5.1 Admission Requirements:

  1. Successful completion of Year 11/Form 5 with satisfactory school report and reference from school Principal when applying for admission.
  2. Those that scored below 180 in the Fiji Year 12 Examinations or equivalent.

5.2 Courses:

The Preliminary Science programme requires the completion of eight courses whereby a student must pass LLP14, LLP15, MAP12, MAP13 and any four from the following courses: BIP02, BIP03, CHP02, CHP03, PHP02, PHP03, TEP02 and ISP21 or for any other course with the approval from the Head of College.

6. Foundation Science

6.1 Admission Requirements:

  1. Fiji: Pass in the National Year 12/Form 6 Examination with an aggregate score of 200 out of 400 and at least 50% in each of the four subjects of which one must be English.
  2. Countries sitting Senior Secondary Certificate: Pass with an aggregate score of 4 – 12 with English not more than 3 and not more than 4 in other subjects.
  3. From USP Preliminary: Pass in LLP14, LLP15, MAP12 and 5 other USP Preliminary courses.
  4. Completed studies at Year 12/Form 6 level deemed equivalent.
  5. Successful completion of unclassified USP Preliminary requirements.
  6. Those that scored below 180 in the Fiji Year 13 National Examination.

6.2 Courses:

The Foundation Science programme requires the successful completion of eight courses. Six of these courses must include the four compulsory courses: LLF14, LLF15, MAF11, MAF12 and at least two other courses from BIF02, BIF03, CHF02, CHF03, PHF02, PHF03, CSF12, ISF21. Other options to make up the 8 courses may be chosen from the following: TEF02, TEF03, FJF23, LNF21, AGF01, AFF01, AFF02, ECF04, OSF01, GEF01, GEF01, HYF01, PLF01, SOF01, SOF02.

If a student is intending to take up Agriculture in degree studies, BIF02, BIF03, CHF02, CHF03 are compulsory; and for Engineering studies, PHF02, PHF03 are compulsory.

*Note: Exemption for MAF11 and MAF12 for students intending to take Undergraduate Programs that do not require Maths will need Head of College approval.
