Office of the Vice-Chancellor and President

The Office of the Vice-Chancellor and President (OVCP) supports the University’s Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Pal Ahluwalia, in his leadership of The University of the South Pacific.

The OVCP takes responsibility for the strategy and agenda of the Vice-Chancellor and President (VCP); for providing advice and support to the VCP, as well as other USP leaders; for stewarding the business of the University and managing the University’s leadership committees; and, for coordinating the day-to-day work of the Vice-Chancellor and President.

USP plays a dynamic role in the Pacific region and is underpinned by its unique cultural identities which are deeply rooted in our virtues – integrity, honesty, respect and accountability.  Preservation of these cultures is at the heart of USP in what we do and how we do it.

The OVCP team provides support to the Vice-Chancellor and President by managing major projects, strategic engagement and coordinating the business flow of the University via the Senior Management Team (SMT), Senate and its committees, as well as the Council committees.

In addition, the OVCP works closely with colleagues in the Vice-Chancellor and President’s Portfolio, which includes:

• Office of the Pro-Chancellor and Chair of Council (via Council and Senate Secretariat);
• Assurance and Compliance Unit;
• Heads of Schools;
• Development Cooperation Unit and;
• Pacific Regional Educational Framework (PacREF) Facilitating Unit.
