What was your reason for enrolling in the Climate Change Program in PaCE-SD?

I am very interested in the environment, its matters and climate change. I would jump at the opportunity to work with volunteers, villagers and stakeholders in any projects to do with climate change and/or the environment.

What does your current career involve? (i.e your main responsibilities)

I organize large meetings especially technical meetings that involve climate change, fisheries, water and sanitation all over the region. In addition, I manage energy saving projects at SPC’s Suva offices and calculate the carbon footprint for the SPC Suva offices.

How has your knowledge and skills gained from your studies assisted you and the organisation that you are working in with their duties related to climate change?

It has equipped me with background knowledge on climate change and its related fields. It has also interestingly enabled me to calculate the carbon footprint of all travel made within the organization I work for.

Can you tell us about any success stories in your career after you have graduated that you believe was made possible with your study experience at PaCE-SD?

I worked with the United Nations Development Programme regarding projects relating to climate change in the Pacific region. It was an eye opener and the best experience possible to witness firsthand how policies assist governments from the macro to the micro level.

What have you done differently/better now in your job after graduation?

My perspective on environmental issues has sharpened and dedication to work has strengthened as a result of working with colleagues and fellow post graduate students from various work backgrounds on field work activities.

What ambitions do you have for the future in your career?

My greatest ambition is to find the perfect job, where I am able to do the best I can, and obtain satisfaction from the work I do especially at policy making level for climate change.

What are you most proud of in your life? (Can be a personal achievement or work related)

I am truly humbled by my achievements and am only happy for the things I have in life.

What inspires you to pursue the type of work that you are in?

I am greatly inspired by my Mother who has been a major pillar of Strength.

Who is your role model and why?

Maya Angelou – She is the epitome of all women as she has written poems that has strengthened femininity and given recognition to work done by women with great integrity and respect.
