IAS awarded funding to support Conservation and Drug discovery

The International Cooperative Biodiversity Group is a US government program to support conservation and drug discovery in developing countries. Five such grants of about US $3 million each are awarded every five years. Institute of Applied Sciences is a current recipient of the grant in association with Georgia Institute of Technology, Scripps Institute of Oceanography and Bristol Myers Squibb Company. Drug discovery is focusing on chemicals from algae and Actinomycete bacteria.
