Bio
Having a background in Psychology, Education, and Biology, I have worked in diverse settings as an academic, consultant, and counsellor. I have been serving at The University of the South Pacific since 2010 and concurrently serve as an Adjunct Fellow at the Eating Disorders and Body Image (EDBI) Program, Translational Health Research Institute, Western Sydney University.
I hold a PhD in Psychology (with Commendation). My research focuses on non-communicable disease (NCD) prevention, with a particular emphasis on the socio-cultural and behavioural determinants of dietary behaviour, food insecurity, and nutrition transitions in Pacific Island communities. I am also deeply engaged in culturally grounded and participatory research approaches, integrating indigenous perspectives to inform community health interventions and policy. My Master’s research explored experiences of HIV/AIDS-related stigma and discrimination in Fiji.
