Mr. Sairusi Lui, the Savusavu Centre Coordinator, served as the chief guest for this year’s Fiji Day celebrations on 9th October at Vuniyasawa Kindergarten in Cakaudrove. The event also commemorated World Teachers’ Day and Children’s Day, making it a significant occasion for the community.
The Savusavu preschool, located in a peri-urban and multi-ethnic area, prepares children for entry into Year 1 of mainstream schooling. Parents and guardians were also present, adding to the vibrant atmosphere.
The celebrations were a time to reflect on the nation’s progress over the past 54 years, highlighting its resilience and growth. This year’s theme, “To Heal and Hope,” underscores the importance of unity in building a strong, inclusive society. It calls for collective healing and renewed optimism for the future.
Established just before Fiji gained independence in 1968, USP is proud to be associated with the nation’s celebrations and remains committed to fostering unity and diversity across the Pacific.
