Overview:
The STEMP/SAEGONS Sports Day for Semester 1, 2025, was a vibrant and engaging event held on July 2nd at the USP Gymnasium. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 60 staff members and teaching assistants representing the departments of Engineering/Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science/Information Systems (CS/IS), and SAEGONS.
The event was coordinated by the STEMP/SAEGONS Sports Committee and featured a full day of friendly inter-departmental competition. Games included Futsal, Volleyball, Carrom Board Tournament, and Fun Games like the Bun-Eating Dash, Spoon-and-Marble Relay, and Musical Chairs.

Event Highlights:
- Futsal (9:10 AM – 11:20 AM):
- Six intense round-robin matches were held.
- All departments showed great sportsmanship and competitiveness.
- Each match was 15 minutes long with built-in 3-minute changeovers.
- A point system determined rankings, leading to final placements.

- Fun Games (11:20 AM – 12:00 PM):
- Included light-hearted activities such as spoon-and-marble relays and bun-eating dashes.
- Aimed at encouraging team bonding, light competition, and a lot of laughter.

- Volleyball Tournament (12:00 PM – 2:30 PM):
- Organized in two pools (A & B) with six pool matches followed by playoffs.
- Matches ran simultaneously on two courts.
- Departments showcased teamwork and strategy with thrilling set plays.

- Carrom Tournament
- A doubles knockout format with participation from all five departments.
- Matches ran concurrently with volleyball.

- Afternoon Session (3:30 PM – 4:00 PM):
- Concluded with Musical Chairs and a shared refreshments session.
- Participants brought snacks, and drinks were provided by the committee.
Trophies & Recognition:
- Departments were awarded points based on their placements in each sport:
- 1st Place: 3 Points
- 2nd Place: 2 Points
- 3rd Place: 1 Point
- The department with the highest cumulative score across all activities was crowned Best Performing Department.

Special Notes:
- Attendance was mandatory as it was held on a regular working day.
- The event fostered camaraderie, team spirit, and interdepartmental collaboration.
- All games were completed according to the schedule.
- Many participants expressed positive feedback on the energy and organization of the day.
