Write-Up Scholarship
- AIM
WRITE-UP SCHOLARSHIP support students writing up their research for publications after they have submitted their Masters or PhD thesis for examination. Funding will be for a maximum duration of 3 MONTHS. - ELIGIBILITY
Applicants must- have undertaken either a Masters (by research) or a PhD degree at USP.
- have submitted for examination through the proper channels the final version of their thesis for examination, internal and external.
- not be receiving any other scholarship.
- not be engaged in any other form of paid employment.
- be able to devote 40 hours per week to the writing-up of their research under the direction of their research supervisor(s)
- CONDITIONS OF TAKING UP THE AWARD
Supervision
Principal supervisor must be available to scrutinize draft manuscripts.
Employment
A candidate, to whom a full time award is made, will not be permitted to undertake any form of paid employment during the tenure of the award (including as part-time tutors or markers). This award cannot be paid concurrently with any other scholarship.
Recipients of Write-Up Scholarships will be terminated immediately if they are found to be in breach of any of these conditions and will be required to pay back the previous month’s allowance. - SELECTION CRITERIA
Selection will be based on:- Applicants meeting the conditions of eligibility
- Supervisor’s agreement and availability for regular meetings.
- Demonstrated capacity to meet milestones
- Funding available

Applications are open year round but require recommendation of the supervisor and endorsement by the Head of School.
