Dr Maureen Fatiaki Karan

Dr Maureen Fatiaki Karan is a Lecturer in the School of Business and Management at the University of the South Pacific, Suva, Fiji Islands.  She has worked for a number of organisations thus gaining private sector experience which compliments her academic achievements.

Dr Maureen Fatiaki Karan was born and raised in Fiji.  She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Management and Public Administration and Tourism Studies, Postgraduate Diploma in Management and Public Administration, Master of Commerce in Management and Public Administration (Thesis) (Graduate Assistant Scholarship (200516-2006). She has also worked for various organizations such as Tappoo Group of companies, Pacific Electronic Commerce (Subsidiary of TransTel Fiji Limited) and the Quality office at The University of the South Pacific. She held various positions in areas of Sales and Marketing, Human Resource and Quality Administration.

She completed her PhD in Management and Public Administration in 2018 from the University of the South Pacific. Her PhD thesis focussed on impact of reforms in the telecommunications industry on employees in Fiji, Samoa and Solomon Islands.

As a Lecturer at The University of the South Pacific, she has been teaching the undergraduate and Post Graduate courses in Management and Public Administration. In addition to this, she has published in the areas of Public Enterprise Reforms and Human Resource Management, using technology to improve student learning outcomes, E-government diffusion in Fiji, etc.

Dr Maureen Fatiaki Karan has over 16 years of teaching at the University. She has developed print leaning materials for Management courses. The courses that she teaches include MG 101, MG 201, MG 204, MG 214, MG 301, MG 302, MG 303, MG 312, MG 404, MG 405 and MG 451
