Roadshow Allows Accessibility of Enrolment for Students.
Combined efforts of Labasa and Laucala Campus allowed smooth enrolments
Three teams of staff from Labasa, Laucala Campus and Savusavu Centre were dispatched on the 27th and 28th of January to engage in roadshow activities for prospective USP students in Vanua Levu. Based at strategic locations at Labasa Campus, Town Council frontage in Savusavu and at Central Primary School, Naqara the team met Y13 students, current students, alumni, parents, and community members who flocked the USP roadshow booths to engage in discussions of programmes on offer, pathways to programmes, academic skills, careers after studying and financial aid available to students at USP. The staff engaged in the event met many enthusiastic, vibrant students who were eager to join the USP vuvale and begin their journey towards their dream career.
Twins Shamaya and Cheyenne Singh, top scorers at Bucalevu Secondary took advantage of the roadshow event at Naqara, Taveuni and met the team enquiring about Mechical courses, and Semester Zero. “It is a good intiative to come to us here to Taveuni so we are assisted” says Cheyenne. Labasa Campus was a buzz with parents, students who rushed on campus to take advantage of the availability of staff from both Labasa, Laucala campus for one on one consultations.
Parents, community members, alumni took advantage of the open campus policy that allowed quick sharing of information at the roadshow since staff were all present. Savusavu Centre saw prospective students enrol into courses for both PACTAFE and academic so that they are able to secure better prospectus in life. All in all the roadshow proved a success with it been simultaneously organised with others at the different centres around Fiji. For Labasa Campus the road show enhanced the university’s visibility in the three areas of Savusavu, Taveuni and Labasa.
