Stationery Drive – Taveuni, Bua and Savusavu

A stationery drive was initiated by the USP Staff of Labasa Campus on the 11-13th and 24-25th of May, 2016. There were two teams delivering stationeries in cyclone affected schools around Vanua Levu. The first team was led by Dr. Rosi Lagi on the 11-13th May for Taveuni and second team led by Ahemad Shah on the 24-25th May covered the Bua and Savusavu schools.

The schools visited in Taveuni were Lavena Primary, South Taveuni Primary, South Taveuni Secondary, Vuna Primary, Navakawau Primary and Salialevu Primary School.

The schools visited in the Bua, Nabouwalu area on the 24th of May were Vuya District, Nadi District, Baravi Fijian Primary and Kubulau District School. The Savusavu schools included Naweni Primary, Nasavusavu Secondary and Nasavusavu Public School.

Driving through rough terrain for hours, one will be touched by the friendliness of the people who would always wave and smile in appreciation of passing by their villages.

The Principals, Head Teachers and staff of the respective schools gave their heart full appreciation to USP for their tireless effort in taking out time to visit their schools and for the much needed stationeries for the students.

Special thanks and gratitude goes to the Labasa Campus Director, Dr.Bogitini for his continual support and encouragement for the drive, Student Association Federal Body and the Student Association Labasa for their enormous contribution towards the stationery drive, the Business Houses that contributed in kind and cash to this initiative, Ruveni (SAS Laucala) and Dr. Poasa (School of Agriculture) who accompanied the team in the trip and lastly to all the staff of USP Labasa Campus for their hard work and dedication in making this initiative a successful one.
