Guides & Self-assessments

Welcome to the guides section of our website.

This part of the website provides a library of self-assessment tools for you to use in managing risk. These guides have been developed with members of the university community and also from good practice elsewhere.

The guides are split into two categories

  • Guides designed to address specific risks covered by our insurance policies. These are designed to reduce the likelihood of an incident that could give rise to a claim. These guides are linked to a specific insurance policy.
  • Guides designed to address risks more generally. These could cover risks in a number of our insurance policies.

The table below provides a list of the guides and how they link to the insurance policies.

The guides can be used in the following ways:

  • New staff: For new staff to assess an area they may have responsibility for.
  • Ongoing activities: To self-assess these annually to ensure they remain well controlled.
  • Specific activities: To assess a particular activity or event and ensure risks are identified and addressed

We have also developed guides that relate to student-related activities like field trips.  These are listed separately

If you have any suggestions on improving our guides, we would welcome them. We will continue to add new guides as we identify a need for them. If there are any areas where you think we should look to develop a guide, please contact us at ac(at)usp.ac.fj

We hope you find our guides useful and informative.
