USP User Accounts & Passwords
A USP Staff username is necessary to access USP computers, authorized USP websites, online applications such as Moodle, Staff SOLS, MISONLINE and other IT resources.Your USP username is normally your surname_first-initial (bloggs_j)
What is my USP user ID?
How do I collect my USP password?
All new staff are required to collect their initial password from the IT Services Helpdesk based at their respective campuses.
How do I change by USP password?
Every new staff receives their initial password via the IT Helpdesk. It is strongly recommended that the initial password is changed.
USP Student User ID
A USP Student Username is necessary to access USP computers, authorized USP websites, online applications such as Moodle, Student SOLS and other IT resources.
What is my USP user ID?
A students USP ID is represented the letter ‘S’ followed by 8 digits found on the front of your USP ID card.
How do I collect my USP password?
Every new student receives their initial password on their USP offer letter. It is strongly recommended that the initial password is changed
How do I change by USP password?
Students can change their passwords by visiting the IT helpdesk or by selecting “change student password”
Change Your Password
Staff members can change their password by visiting the IT Helpdesk or by hitting keyboard keys “CTRL-ALT-DEL” simultaneously and selecting “Change Password” at the Windows Logon Prompt.
Staff will be required to enter their old (existing) password followed by their new password to confirm the new password.
Students can change their passwords by visiting the IT Helpdesk or by visiting Student Password Changer
Password Guidelines
Passwords are used to access a number of USP systems, including the network, e-mail, the Internet.
USP has the following criteria for password strength:
- The USP password system will not allow any of your last 15 passwords.
- The USP password system will require password’s to be at least 12 characters in length.
- The USP password system will require at least an uppercase letters (e.g. A) and a lowercase letters (e.g. a).
- The USP password system will require either 1 numerical character (e.g. 5) or 1 special characters (e.g. ?, %, $).
- Passwords must not be based on a users’ personal information or that of his or her friends, family members, or pets.
- Passwords must not be words that can be found in a standard dictionary (English or foreign) or are publicly known slang or jargon.
- Passwords must not be based on publicly known fictional characters from books, films and media.
- The USP password system will automatically ask for a change in password every 2 years.
