1. Master of Commerce in Economics (Coursework)

On successful completion of this programme, graduates should be able to:

  1. Analyse economic problems affecting the developing economies using formal and other appropriate methods.
  2. Explain advanced mathematical representations of concepts and theories in core areas of economics.
  3. Apply advanced mathematical methods and/or estimation techniques to inform policy and research.
  4. Analyse critically the effects of external and domestic policy changes or shocks on the Pacific Island economies and beyond.
  5. Demonstrate ethical standards and norms in economic research and professional practice.
  6. Review critically historical and contemporary technical knowledge, theories and practices in economics.
  7. Conduct independent research at the graduate level in several fields of economics.

 

2. Master of Commerce in Economics (SRP)

On successful completion of this programme, graduates should be able to:

  1. Apply technical skills necessary to undertake academic and policy relevant research in Economics at master level.
  2. Formulate coherent and feasible research proposals in the field of Economics at master level.
  3. Examine critically contemporary literature and policy issues within the discipline in local, regional and international context.
  4. Demonstrate through quality and impactful research, the awareness of external forces impacting economics and or economic, social and environmental concerns.
  5. Appraise evidence-based economic policy for sustainable economic development reporting the findings using the discipline format.

 

3. Master of Commerce in Economics (Thesis)

On successful completion of this programme, graduates should be able to:
