Doctor of Philosophy (Engineering)

On successful completion of this programme, graduates should be able to:

  1. Apply advanced-level knowledge of the general field of Engineering and expert knowledge in their field of specialisation.
  2. Undertake applied research in the field of engineering at an advanced level, and contribute to the development of academic skill, techniques, tools, practices, ideas, theories, approaches, and materials.
  3. Critically evaluate current research, research techniques, and methodologies to identify and address gaps in a specific area of engineering.
  4. Produce original research, or other advanced scholarship, of a quality to satisfy peer review, and to merit publication in the field of engineering.
  5. Communicate effectively the findings and impact of their research to a qualified engineering audience and interact with researchers working in similar areas.
  6. Design engineering solutions considering elements of equity, concepts of sustainable development, environmental, social and public safety especially in the Pacific, academic integrity, research ethics and intellectual property.
