Doctor of Philosophy (Marine Management)

On successful completion of this programme, graduates should be able to:

  1. Explain efficiently an advanced range of contemporary principles, concept and approaches of sustainable management and development of marine resources and ecosystems.
  2. Analyse and formulate marine resource governance systems, policies, and management regimes that take into account modern principles and traditional values/practices.
  3. Identify and analyse marine management research gaps and design appropriate research methods of data collection and analysis to address marine management issues.
  4. Apply accepted research methods including observational, experimental, and modelling techniques to specific marine management research programmes.
  5. Interpret and communicate research findings for marine resource policy decisions and for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
