Postgraduate Diploma in Arts (Sociology)

On successful completion of this programme, graduates are expected to be able to:

  1. Social Analysis: Demonstrate advanced theoretical knowledge relevant to the analysis of social processes, issues, and structures in PICs.
  2. Social Research: Design social research, employing relevant methodologies and methods that are informed by ethical and reflexive considerations, to critically analyse social issues, practices and policies.
  3. Sociological Methodologies: Evaluate the epistemological and political value and challenges of critical methodologies (including feminist, indigenous) to mainstream (both quantitative and qualitative) methodologies.
  4. Critical Scholarship: Critically examine the multiplicity and intersectionality of inequalities at local, regional, and global levels, situating them in relevant sociological literature.
