Master of Arts (History)

On successful completion of this programme, graduates are expected to be able to:

  1. Identify a research question in history and design a rigorous and practical research plan.
  2. Locate, summarise, and critically analyse both primary and secondary sources.
  3. Navigate public and private institutions responsible for preserving historical documents (archives, museums, and libraries) and build professional relationships with key collaborators (e.g. supervisors, interlocutors and local communities).
  4. Communicate research methods, argument, and findings in a clear and compelling way, in both writing and orally using appropriate media and conceptual language in the form of a thesis.
  5. Explain complex ideas through accurately employing specialised disciplinary terminology and conventions.
  6. Conduct historical research in an ethical and informed manner.
