Master of Laws (Thesis)

On successful completion of this programme, graduates are expected to be able to:

  1. Plan and conduct research activities independently and in collaboration with the supervisor in a focussed area of the law whilst displaying a good understanding of ancillary or connected areas of the law.
  2. Search, identify and communicate relevant questions of law effectively, in a well-circumscribed and justified context using all relevant tools as the specificity of the research requires, utilising a variety of forums and mediums.
  3. Identify pertinent legal issues or gap in the law, critically analyse, and apply theoretical concepts in a well-circumscribed and justified context of the law.
  4. Demonstrate, both personally and professionally, the principles of ethics and the highest standards of legal professionalism.
  5. Justify responses to systemic legal issues, investigate and propose options for reform that promote notions for integrity, coherence, resilience and sustainability.

 

Master of Laws (SRP)

On successful completion of this programme, graduates are expected to be able to:

  1. Plan and conduct research activities independently and in collaboration with the supervisor in a focussed area of the law.
  2. Search, identify and communicate most relevant questions of law effectively, in a well-circumscribed context using relevant tools as the specificity of the research requires
  3. Identify the core pertinent legal issues or gaps in the law, critically analyse, and apply theoretical concepts in a well-circumscribed and justified context of the Law.
  4. Demonstrate, both personally and professionally, the principles of ethics and the highest standards of legal professionalism.
  5. Formulate responses to systemic legal issues, investigate and propose options for reform that promote notions for integrity, resilience and sustainability.

 

Master of Laws (Coursework)

On successful completion of this programme, graduates are expected to be able to:

  1. Critically evaluate extended range of the region’s laws and legal systems in their local and global context, including the role of custom.
  2. Adequately contextualise law to focused complex, practical and theoretical situations.
  3. Research, analyse, and critically evaluate extended range of questions of law.
  4. Communicate synthetically advanced legal knowledge and arguments persuasively both orally and in writing, with appropriate referencing and legal citation.
