Postgraduate Diploma in Development Studies

On successful completion of this programme, graduates are expected to be able to:

  1. Evaluate critically key concepts, approaches and theories in development, such as Sustainable Development, including in the Pacific context.
  2. Reflect critically on the practice and ethics of development, including in relation to specific ‘sectors’ such as environment, gender and human development.
  3. Articulate the complex and contested nature of development in written and oral modes, using ICT tools where relevant.
  4. Discuss the characteristics of development studies as a field of study and the research methods used to generate knowledge about development in both scholarly and policy domain.
  5. Apply the knowledge, skills and standards of a professional development practitioner.
