Certificate in Vernacular Language (Vanuatu Language Studies)

On successful completion of this programme, graduates should be able to:

  1. Display competence in and understanding of Bislama or another Vanuatu language in academic and professional contexts;
  2. Demonstrate the ability to follow appropriate cultural etiquette, protocol and ways of collaborating with others;
  3. Identify key aspects of the role of language and culture in the formation of the Vanuatu identity;
  4. Demonstrate knowledge of a range of topics relating to the history, politics, language and culture of Vanuatu;
  5. Develop strategies and resources that will ensure the sustainability and development of Vanuatu languages and cultures;
  6. Apply knowledge and skills developed within the programme to contemporary issues of relevance to Vanuatu society.
